Michigan City, IN - On Saturday January 11th, Progressive Democrats of LaPorte County (formerly Greater Michigan City Progressive Democrats) hosted a forum for democratic candidates to succeed U.S. Rep. Pete Visclosky. Visclosky has announced his retirement at the end of this term, his 18th.The Nest, at 803 Franklin St., Michigan City, graciously provided the forum space. In reflecting on Saturday’s event, Co-Chair of the Progressive Democrats of LaPorte County, Stephen Perkins explains,
“The forum on Saturday was absolutely unprecedented. It was the first event in the race to select the Democratic nominee in Indiana’s 1st Congressional District. The success of the forum was particularly notable because even the inclement weather couldn’t keep folks home. Consequently, we turned out over one hundred participants from across the Region. I believe Saturday’s forum signifies a changing perspective and helps reinforce the beginning of the 2020 Blue Wave.”
Stay tuned for forthcoming opportunities to keep engaged this election season!
